Fayette County grand jury indicts two men in connection with murders of Lexington teens

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Fayette County grand jury has indicted two men in connection with the deaths of two Lexington teenagers whose disappearances earlier this year sparked a massive search effort across Central Kentucky.

According to the indictment, Jesus Reyes-Ocampo is charged with two counts of murder and tampering with physical evidence. Jesus Reyes-Rodriguez, 47, is charged with tampering with physical evidence.

As ABC 36 News Now previously reported, Reyes-Ocampo was just 17 years old when he was first arrested in the case. After turning 18 in July, he was transferred to the Fayette County Detention Center, where he now awaits trial. A judge has ruled that Reyes-Ocampo will be tried as an adult.

The case began on May 11, when 16-year-old Ali Naqvi and 15-year-old Aoun Basboos were last seen getting into the back seat of a car, following a shots-fired incident on Spangler Drive. Days later, police located that same car at the Loradale Market on Russell Cave Road, leading to the arrests of Reyes-Ocampo and Reyes-Rodriguez on May 15.

The investigation soon turned tragic. Naqvi’s body was found in Harrison County, and shortly afterward, police confirmed the discovery of Basboos’ body.

Reyes-Ocampo is scheduled for arraignment on October 3rd.
