Father Sichko to deliver hundreds of supplies to Hurricane Laura victims
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) — Father Jim Sichko, former pastor of St. Mark’s in Richmond who is now the pope’s Papal Missionary of Mercy, is answering a plea for help for Hurricane Laura victims by delivering hundreds of donated supplies and gift cards from people all over the country.
The backseat of his car proved too small for the overwhelming response he received.
So, he’s loading up a moving truck donated by Lexington-based trucking company Longship with the help of several Jeff Ruby valets turned movers to deliver the Miles of Mercy supplies.
Kentuckians and people from across the country responded quickly after Father Sichko promised to deliver household items donated through Amazon.
The items filled his garage – $25,000 worth of supplies and $10,000 worth of gift cards.
Father Sichko will deliver it to Lake Charles, Louisana and his hometown of Orange, Texas.
“There’s no way you can do something like this without so many people coming together and even in the midst of a pandemic,” says Father Sichko. “It once again shows what really is the true spirit of humanity.”
Hurricane Laura victims still waiting for power and water will welcome the delivery next week.
Father Sichko will personally hand out the items.
