Fatal two vehicle collision in Pike County under investigation
MARROWBONE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) are investigating a fatal two vehicle collision on US 460 in Pike County.
KSP Pikeville Post received the call about the accident around 5:21 a.m.
Once on the scene, troopers saw that 67-year-old Larry Adkins of Shelbiana was driving a 2007 Dodge van in the eastbound lane of US 460 when his vehicle hit the rear of a 2011 Ford Expedition driven by 56-year-old Brett Gayheart of McDowell. Adkins’ vehicle kept going eastbound until it struck an utility pole.
The Pike County Coroner’s Office pronounced Adkins deceased on scene.
KSP Accident Reconstructionist Trooper John Dixon is carrying out the investigation. He was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel, KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Marrowbone Volunteer Fire Department, and Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
