Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting In Shelby County
Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal shooting involving a trooper in Shelby county.
State police said it happened before 10:15 p.m. Sunday on Hazel Lawn Drive in Shelbyville.
Shelbyville police received a phone call from a woman about a man in her front yard who was refusing to leave.
State police said a trooper was close to the scene and went to investigate.
They said when he arrived, he spotted the man in the front yard.
State police said the man started firing shots and coming toward the trooper and that’s when the trooper ducked behind his car for cover and fired at the man.
The suspect was hit.
He was taken to University of Louisville hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The name of the man has not been released.
They said the man and woman knew each other.
State police said the trooper is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting.
