Fatal Collision On Georgetown Road

One person died and another is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a horrible collision in Lexington.

Police said just before noon, a pickup headed outbound on Georgetown Road ran a red light and t-boned a car at Briarwood Drive. Rescue had to use the jaws of life to get a man and woman out of the car.

Investigators said the woman, who was a passenger, died at the hospital. she’s been identified as 77-year-old Margaret Elery. The man, whose name hasn’t been released, was badly hurt. Police said the pickup driver wasn’t injured.

No word yet on if charges will be filed.
