Family dog killed in early morning house fire in Lexington

The fire department says crews were not able to revive the pet

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fire in Lexington Monday morning left a pet dog dead, and destroyed a family’s garage.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, crews dispatched to 1408 Rocky Mountain Circle around 9:43 a.m. for a fire in a basement garage. Authorities said there was smoke on arrival, and the accident was upgraded to a working fire.

The fire department said there was heavy smoke and damage throughout the house, and that the garage is a total loss.

According to the fire department, one dog was found dead. Crews were not able to revive the animal, after finding it unresponsive. No other injuries were reported.

The fire department said the people who live in the home will be displaced. Crews are now investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
