Family and friends prepare to say final goodbye to Lexington teenager who died from rare aging disease

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Family and friends are preparing to say their final goodbyes to a Lexington teenager who passed away after battling a rare aging disease.

Seventeen-year-old Zach Pickard, a member of South Elkhorn Christian Church, died on Sunday, according to the church. Pickard had Progeria, a rare aging disorder that affects children and young adults.

A visitation for Pickard is scheduled for Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at South Elkhorn Christian Church on Harrodsburg Road. The funeral will take place on Saturday morning at 11 a.m., also at South Elkhorn.
