F.C.P.S. Board to discuss Superintendent Liggins’ contract

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Public School Board is set to meet Monday evening to decide on the potential contract renewal for Superintendent Dr. Demetrus Liggins.

The meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. at the district office on Park Place, will follow a public hearing at 4 p.m. regarding the district’s wellness report card.

As reported earlier, the discussion surrounding Liggins’ contract has sparked significant public interest. A parent-created Change.org petition opposing the renewal has garnered more than 1,400 signatures as of Monday morning. The petition cites concerns over budget allocation and resource deployment within the district.

In contrast, another parent-led petition supporting Liggins was launched last week and has received more than 2,000 signatures.

The outcome of the meeting could have major implications for the district’s leadership moving forward.
