Expansion to Early Childhood Education

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – There’s an expansion on the way for early childhood education.
Thanks to a one million dollar grant from Toyota and a federal grant. The United Way Born Learning Academies is expanding to 63 more schools across Kentucky.
According to the Department of Education about half of the children going to kindergarten are not prepared on the first day of class.
The Born Learning Academies Program is working to turn things around by offering monthly workshops for parents and caregivers. The program shows them how to help their children learn by using simple tasks like folding laundry or going to store.
Because of the expansion this fall a total of 161 schools will offer learning resources for parents and caregivers.
