Tipton family speaks out after Exantus appears in court

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Ronald Exantus, the man accused in the fatal stabbing of 6-year old Logan Tipton, appeared in court on Wednesday.

At the proceedings, a new hearing was scheduled to assess Exantus’ psychiatric report.  Health professionals will testify on whether Exantus is able to stand trial in the case, and a judge will make a determination from those findings.

The hearing is scheduled for August 8 at 9:00 a.m.

Police say 32 year-old Ronald Exantus, a registered nurse from Indianapolis, Indiana, went into a home on Douglas Avenue in Versailles on December 7, 2015, took a knife from the kitchen, went upstairs and stabbed Logan Tipton repeatedly in the head while the child slept.

Police say Exantus attacked two other children and the father, but the father was able to stop him and hold him until officers arrived. Investigators say Exantus confessed to the crime.
