LOUSIVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Native Kentuckian, UK women’s soccer product and 10-year National Women’s Soccer League veteran Arin Wright is Racing Louisville FC’s captain for the 2025 season.

The defender from Wilmore, KY was elected to the role by her teammates and comes after starting 21 games on the backline for the team last season.

She ranked second on the team in interceptions, third in blocks and sixth in aerial duels won last season

Wright signed a new multi-year deal with Racing this past season.

“I feel honored to represent my teammates, this club and this city,” said Wright. “Stepping into this role as captain is something that I am excited to challenge myself in and will not take lightly. My hope is that by empowering my teammates and giving them a safe space to express themselves, we don’t just have one leader — we have a team full of them.”

Wright began her soccer career at West Jessamine High School and was named Kentucky’s Miss Soccer and an All-American during her youth soccer days. She is a UK Athletics Hall of Famer as well.

“(Arin) brings positive leadership qualities to this group in several aspects,” said Head Coach Bev Yanez. “We look forward to her leading the group this season.”
