Eubank man charged after investigation into alleged attempted sex crime involving minor

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Pulaski County man has been arrested following an investigation into an alleged attempted sex crime involving a minor, according to a release from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Bobby Jones says 51-year-old Arnold Merritt of Eubank is charged with attempted promotion of a sexual performance by a minor involving a victim under the age of 16.

According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation began after a complaint alleged Merritt made statements of a sexual nature to the minor victim. Officials say the arrest followed a joint investigation between the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and the Department for Community Based Services.

Authorities say Merritt was served with an arrest warrant and taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $10,000 cash bond.

Officials did not release additional details about the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
