Escaped Prisoner Arrested At Berea McDonalds

An inmate on the run and the woman who jail officials said, helped her escape, are now both back behind bars.

Officials at the Rockcastle County Jail said Ruby Elizabeth Coyle and her former cell mate, Carrie Gross, were caught by Berea Police just before noon Saturday.

Officers told us they got a call saying the pair was at McDonald’s on Glade Road, close to the 77 exit on I-75.

They headed over and questioned the women.  Police said at least one of the two was not forthcoming and gave a fake social security number.

Kentucky State Police have charged Gross with second degree burglary, after she was found with items stolen from her mother’s home last week.

Jail workers said some of those items were electronics, a Kindle Fire and stolen checks.

Now the two are being held at the Madison County Detention Center.

Workers at the county jail believe Gross helped Coyle escape from her work duty on May 22.

Since then, both women have had outstanding warrants.

Coyle’s original arrests were for producing methamphetamine and having drug paraphernalia.
