EPA chief Scott Pruitt resigns

WASHINGTON (AP/WTVQ) – President Trump says he has accepted resignation of scandal-plagued EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

“I have accepted the resignation of Scott Pruitt as the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency,” Trump said in a tweet. “Within the agency Scott has done an outstanding job, and I will always be thankful to him for this.”

Pruitt, who is a native Kentuckian, is one of the most scandal-plagued Cabinet officials in U.S. history.

Pruitt has been under fire for numerous scandals related to his spending management and ethics.

The steady flow of negative news stories prompted multiple government investigators to open several inquiries into Pruitt.

His EPA now faces about a dozen probes into its spending, ethics and policy decisions.
