Emergency shelter opened after storm closes in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An emergency shelter for persons with non-emergency medical needs that was opened in Lexington following Friday’s storm has closed.

The storm knocked out power to thousands in Fayette County.

Lexington Kentucky Emergency Management opened the Lexington Senior Center for those without power who had non-emergency medical needs over the weekend.

Officials announced Monday the emergency shelter at the Senior Center is now closed.

The Senior Center, located at 195 Life Lane, behind the Southland Christian Church complex on Richmond Road, is open for regular programming.

The center will close at 5 p.m.
