Elliott County man arrested on child sexual exploitation charges following KSP investigation

MOREHEAD, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — An Elliott County man is behind bars facing multiple child sexual exploitation charges following an undercover investigation conducted by Kentucky State Police’s Electronic Crime Branch.

According to a news release from KSP, 25-year-old Andrew Demmon was taken into custody Tuesday, after investigators discovered he had allegedly uploaded sexually explicit images of juveniles to one of his social media accounts. The arrest took place following an interview with law enforcement.

According to the release, the arrest stemmed from an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation. KSP says a search warrant was executed at Demmon’s Morehead residence on the same day, and investigators seized equipment believed to have been used in the alleged crimes. That equipment is now being analyzed at KSP’s forensic laboratory, according to the release.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Demmon has been charged with 20 counts of possessing matter portraying a minor under the age of 12 in a sexual performance and one count of distributing matter portraying a minor under the age of 12 in a sexual performance. Both charges are Class-C felonies, each punishable by five to ten years in prison.

He is currently being held at the Rowan County Detention Center.
