Elkton Man Charged After Two Hour Standoff
ELKTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police have arrested a man after a two hour standoff on Goshen Road in Elkton, Kentucky.
Troopers say they received a call Thursday evening just before 7:00 p.m. complaining about a man breaking out windows and trying to set his home on fire.
When offices arrived, they discovered the man was 48-year-old Russell Morris. They say they found the broken windows and saw blood at the home, but couldn’t find Morris.
When they entered the home, police say Morris cycled a shotgun. Troopers backed out, as additional units responded to the scene.
Investigators say several attempts to make contact with Morris were unsuccessful, but after a two hour standoff, he finally surrendered and was taken into custody.
Morris was taken to Logan Memorial Hospital in Russelville for treatment, and then taken to Todd County Detention Center.
He was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment.
