It’s Election Day, polls are open in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It’s Election Day and polls are open in Kentucky’s statewide 2019 general election.

At Frederick Douglass High School, a steady stream of voters made their way into the precinct to cast their vote early this morning.

Current Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes spoke about Election Day and why it’s so important for Kentuckians to vote despite it not being a Presidential election year, “We have two individuals on the ballot vying for governor – one that got there by 84 votes, another that won his attorney general race by less than 2000.”

A reminder, Fayette County Public Schools are closed Tuesday for voting.

Polls will be open until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone in line by 6 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Acceptable types of I.D.’s are: being a personal acquaintance of a precinct officer, driver’s license, social security card, a county-issued ID card approved by the State Board of Elections, U.S government-issued ID, state-issued ID with picture, credit card, and another form of ID with both a picture and signature.
