EKU’s New President Takes Over
Eastern Kentucky University welcomed its new president on Thursday.
Doctor Michael Benson replaced retiring president Doug Whitlock.
Benson spent more than 20 years in higher education and recently served as president of Southern Utah University.
Benson said Thursday he’s going to have a steep learning curve at the beginning and he’ll be doing a lot of listening as he settles into the job.
Benson said he wants to emphasize private fundraising for the university and for athletic programs.
He also said access to education should be a top priority for America.
