EKU prepares for targeted violence in light of recent attacks
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – In light of the recent targeted violence attack in Las Vegas, Eastern Kentucky University says it has enhanced their training and response capabilities.
EKU says their Police and Division of Public Safety reviewed and updated Response Protocols and hosted the FBI’s ALERRT training class for their officers and officers from surrounding agencies. They say they also had active shooter exercises that allowed them to practice training and test the functionality of their plans.
EKU Police recommends that if you find yourself in a targeted violence situation, you should maintain awareness about where you are, what can happen to you, how to exit every space you enter into and where you can seek shelter wherever you go.
They also suggest that you pay attention to alerts sent out to the community.
