EKU Marching Band coming back for fall 2018

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – The music hasn’t died at Eastern Kentucky University.

The university has announced its marching band, the Marching Colonels, is returning for the fall 2018 semester.

The EKU School of Music and College of Letters Arts and Social Sciences says it is recruiting members now and all majors are encouraged to participate.

EKU announced back in April, because of the shortfall in the 2018 budget, the marching band would be one of the programs cut.

That led to an outcry by students and alumni.

The university’s president then announced EKU would restructure the marching band, organized and supported by the Division of Student Success and Campus Life, in collaboration with the School of Music.
