EKU given the ‘all clear’ after suspicious device reported on campus

After an hour-long investigation, EKU police have given the “all clear.”
Police finished searching the area and said normal activities could resume.
Officers are now working with the FBI and KSP to determine the person(s) responsible for making the “terroristic threat.”
Here is the updated alert:

RICHMOND, Ky. (Nov. 2, 2023) – Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) was informed by an anonymous phone call made to Madison County Emergency Operation Center on the afternoon of Nov. 2, 2023. The caller notified officials that they placed a suspicious device at the Whitlock Building on EKU’s Richmond campus. The EKU Police Department has completed its onsite investigation. The area was thoroughly searched by explosive detection canines and by hand. No threats were identified. An all clear has been issued. The campus community can proceed as normal. We appreciate our community’s cooperation. EKU Police treat every report of this nature with the utmost importance. Our teams work tirelessly to ensure the safety of our campus community. We appreciate our partners with the Richmond Police, Richmond Fire, Madison County EMS, and the Kentucky State Police. EKU is currently working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Kentucky State Police to leverage available resources in determining the responsible party for making the terroristic threat.”

A building on the Eastern Kentucky University’s campus is being evacuated after a reported “suspicious device.”
According to an EKU Emergency Alert, a caller reported a “bomb or suspicious device” outside of the Whitlock Building around 1:30 p.m.
The alert calls for students and staff to evacuate the building and avoid Whitlock.
EKU police are on the scene.
No other information was immediately available.
