EKU falls just short of an upset over Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Eastern Kentucky men’s basketball traveled to the KFC Yum center for their final non-conference game of the season.

The colonels were down 46-37 at the half, but rallied things back to a one point game in the second half.

With the help of a three-pointer from George Kimble III, the colonels took a one point lead with 1:22 left in the game; 76-75.

Things remained scoreless until Louisville’s Noah Waterman converted a challenging baseline layup with 1.2 seconds on the clock to take the lead 77-76. Then the cards made a free throw with 0.4 ticks left to seal the final score 78-76.

Eastern Kentucky moves to 6-7 on the season, and begin conference play on the road against Central Arkansas on January 3nd at 7:30 p.m.
