Eddie Montgomery’s son dies
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Country superstar and Kentucky native Eddie Montgomery is mourning the death of his son.
Montgomery, who is one half of the duo Montgomery Gentry, says his son died Sunday. A spokesperson for the duo says 19-year-old Hunter Montgomery was taken off life support at the University of Kentucky.
The family says no details are being released yet about the death, but the Fayette County Coroner’s Office says the cause of death is “pending investigation, awaiting toxicology results.”
Eddie Montgomery released a statement on Montgomery Gentry’s website saying he appreciated the prayers from the fans and for “giving us the privacy as we grieve and say good-bye.”
A spokesman says Hunter is the youngest of Eddie Montgomery’s four children. Hunter lived in Lexington and got engaged last year and welcomed a son in the spring.
Funeral arrangements for Hunter Montgomery have not been made public.
Montgomery Gentry rose to fame back in 2000 when they won the CMA “Vocal Duo of the Year.”
