EKU launches new scholarship model to make college more affordable for Kentucky students
RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Eastern Kentucky University is introducing a new scholarship model aimed at making college more affordable for Kentucky students.
Starting in Fall 2026, EKU will offer automatic scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $9,000 for every in-state, full-time freshman. The new program, called the Eastern Experience scholarships, includes the Regent’s Award — offering $9,000 to students with a 3.8 GPA and an ACT score of 28 or higher.
EKU President David McFaddin says the new model is designed to make higher education more accessible, particularly for first-generation students and families across the region.
