Early-morning fire destroys home near Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fire destroyed a home near Mount Vernon in Rockcastle County early Thursday morning.

According to the Mount Vernon Fire Department, a call came in just before 7 a.m. for a fire at a home on Sowder School Road. Engine 612, Ladder 611, and Tanker 614 responded, joined by the Livingston Fire Department Engine 32 and Tanker 38, Brodhead Fire Department Tanker 15 and Rescue 13, and Pongo Fire Department with two additional tankers.

The house was a total loss, but no injuries were reported, according to firefighters.
