DUI charges for man in parked car

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Sheriff’s deputies in Laurel Co. arrested a man on DUI charges after receiving complaints about a car idling in front of a home.

Deputies say they received the complaints around 4:10 p.m. on Monday.  Investigators say the car was parked off East Laurel Road, about 5 miles east of London.  According to the two arresting deputies, 53-year-old Larry Swafford was found smelling of alcohol with a handgun in his possession.  Deputies were able to determine Swafford was intoxicated and arrested him.

According to investigators, Swafford told them he was trying to go to his brothers residence in Clay County and believed that’s where he was.  He was taken to the Laurel Co. Detention Center.
