DUI, murder charges in Knox Co. fatal accident

KNOX CO., Ky (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police have arrested a woman on DUI and murder charges after an accident in Knox Co. that took the life of a man.

Troopers say they received a call on Wednesday about an accident in the Stinking Creek community of Knox Co.  Deputies investigating at the scene determined that 36-year-old Melissa Warren was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup westbound on KY 718 when she lost control of the truck on a curve, crossed into the eastbound lane, and hit a guardrail.  The rear part of the pickup then hit a tree, causing the truck to overturn.

The passenger in the pickup, Ryan Baker of Flat Lick, was fatally injured in the wreck, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox Co. Coroner.  Officers say Warren was taken to the Knox Co. ARH Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries and released.

Warren was taken to the Knox Co. Detention Center and charged with driving under the influence, and murder, among other charges.
