Drug Disposal Day Helps Environment, Law Enforcement

Law enforcement agencies across the country participated in the fifth nationwide drug take-back day.

It’s the fourteenth time the Frankfort Police Department has collected unused prescription medication.

The goal is to safely dispose of the drugs in order to keep the out of the hands of those who could potentially abuse them and to keep them from ending up in drinking water supplies.

Recently, they’ve started giving away window clings to people who drop off medication so they can let people know their home is prescription medication-free.

Officers say this will hopefully reduce the number of thefts.
