Driver Takes Out Power Pole, Leaves Homes In the Dark

Several homes in Lexington were left without power Wednesday  morning following a crash that sent a truck into a power pole.
Police said the driver of the truck was drunk when he hit the pole and snapped it in half on Tates Creek Road and Alumni Drive just after 1:30 a.m.
Kentucky Utilities was called in to put up a replacement pole.
Close to 300 customers lost power.
The driver who hit the pole was not injured, according to police, but will be charged with driving under the influence.
