UPDATE: Driver killed after crashing into building
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Jessamine County Coroner has confirmed that Ashton Boyd died of his injuries after crashing into a building in Nicholasville.
ABC 36 was told that 24-year-old Boyd is from Garrard County.
According to Nicholasville Police, Boyd was driving down a curve when he lost control, hit a pole then struck a business called Faulkner and Fain Company on Maple Street at 10:45 p.m. Monday.
Police say Boyd had to be cut from his car before being transported to Saint Joseph hospital for treatment.
Police say the driver was the only person in the vehicle.
They say speed appears to be a factor in the accident.
Owners of the business have told ABC 36 that the building is structurally sound and they have begun making repairs.
Kentucky Utilities was called out to repair the broken pole.
Police are still investigating the crash.
