Driver recovering after car hits Lexington building

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – One person is recovering in the hospital this afternoon after their car crashed into a building in Lexington.

According to police, the incident occurred just off Rojay Drive when the driver lost control of their vehicle due to a mechanical failure, and slammed into an Aldi store.

Police say that when the car malfunctioned, it left the road and crossed into a docking bay area.

The driver was trapped in the car until fire crews were able to extricate them.

They sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the collision.

The Lexington Fire Department is currently assessing the stability of the building.
