Driver killed after SUV hits tree in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – An early-morning accident kills a Lexington man.
Police say the driver was going down Harrodsburg Road near Alexandria Drive at around 1 a.m. Friday, when his SUV went off the road and slammed into a tree.
Bystanders rushed to the SUV, according to police, and pulled the man from the vehicle.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says 24-year-old Dalton Womack was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital where he died.
The coroner says Womack died of blunt force trauma.
Police say it does not appear alcohol or excessive speed were factors in the crash.
They say it appears Womack did not brake before hitting the tree.
Lexington police are investigating the crash.
