Driver killed after hitting school bus in Pulaski County

SOMERSET, Ky. (WTVQ) – An accident involving a school bus has claimed the life of a man in Pulaski County.

Somerset Police say a car rear-ended a school bus that was stopped on Kentucky Highway 914 at Rose Court Tuesday morning.

The driver, Justin Vanover, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the bus had stopped to pick up children, and was hit right after the last child boarded.

Witnesses told police they saw the bus stopped, with its flashing lights on and stop sign out.

Investigators say Vanover hit the bus at speeds between 55 and 65 miles per hour.

The Pulaski County School District says 17 students were on board the bus when the crash happened. The students and the bus driver were not hurt.

The students were placed on another bus and taken to school.

The district says the students’ parents were notified about the crash.
