Driver Killed Following Pursuit And Crash
One person was killed following a pursuit and crash in Shelby county on Friday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.
State police said, at around 3:44 a.m., they received a request to help the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in a pursuit which began after they got a complaint of a reckless driver on I64.
State police said officers tried to stop the Chevrolet Blazer for driving recklessly and reaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
The vehicle left the interstate, turning south onto Taylorsville Road then went onto Fisherville Road.
Police said that’s where the driver failed to maneuver a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree line.
The driver was ejected and the vehicle overturned and caught fire, according to officers.
The driver, Marcus Slone, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
The collision is being investigated by Kentucky State Police.
