Driver hospitalized after early morning crash on I-75 on-ramp in Lexington, ramp reopens
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — One person was taken to the hospital after an early morning crash on a busy interstate on-ramp in Lexington.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers were called around 4:15 a.m. to the on-ramp from North Broadway to I-75 for a reported injury collision.
The Lexington Fire Department says crews arrived on scene just a few minutes later, around 4:20 a.m.
Fire officials say a bystander helped the driver out of the vehicle after a fire broke out in the engine compartment.
Police say the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No additional details about what led to the crash have been released.
The on-ramp remained closed for several hours and reopened around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
