Driver ends up under tractor trailer on Versailles Road

LEXINGTON, (KY) – A man was sent to the hospital with critical injuries after his car ended up under a tractor trailer.

Police say the truck was making a U-turn on Versailles Road and New Circle Road near a construction zone just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when a car ran into it, sliding under the trailer.

The trailer was hauling 42,000 pounds of steel, according to police.

The driver was cut from the car by firefighters.

Police say the driver was conscious at the scene but did suffer life-threatening injuries.

According to police witnesses tell them the driver of the car appeared to be driving at a high rate of speed without his headlights on.

No one was cited at the scene.
