Driver charged with DUI following fatal accident in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington police say a driver was arrested after a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist outside Keeneland Sunday night.

According to police, 37-year-old Allison Rhoads was driving under the influence when she pulled her truck out in front of 30-year-old Dustin Makaris’ motorcycle on Rice Road and Back Gate Road around 9 p.m.

Makaris, who is from Lexington, was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the University of Kentucky hospital, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

Rhoads is charged with driving under the influence.

There is no word yet on whether the charges will be upgraded.
