Driver arrested after truck hits home, starts fire
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police have arrested a man they say hit a Frankfort home, causing it to catch fire.
It happened on Letcher Avenue around 9:30 p.m. Monday.
According to police, 40-year-old James Smith went off the road, hit a gas meter, then the home.
The gas line ruptured, causing the truck, then the home, to catch fire.
Police say Smith got out of the truck and ran off.
Two people were in the home at the time.
The Frankfort Fire Department says both got out safely and were not injured.
The home had significant damage, according to firefighters.
Police tracked down Smith a short time later and arrested him.
He faces several charges including wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, and alcohol intoxication.
