Donations being accepted for MLK Day of Service
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Community Action Council is accepting donations for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
Volunteers with the council’s “Backpacks of Love” program will be putting together backpacks filled with personal care items for veterans, the homeless and children in the foster care system.
Community Action Council is collecting personal hygiene items (new, trial size) such as soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, lotion, shaving cream and razors, white socks (new), backpacks/duffel Bags, PJ’s (sizes: newborn to 8/9 and 10-Adult XL), small blankets, hats/gloves (adult & children), stuffed animals, coloring books/crayons, journals/pens/pencils, and financial contributions.
Donated items can be dropped off at all of the following Council locations anytime Monday – Friday between 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM:
