Domestic Violence shelter celebrates renovated facility
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The domestic violence shelter known as Greenhouse 17 unveiled its renovations Tuesday.
It has been serving Lexington for 10 years and hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its newly renovated facility to celebrate.
Women at the shelter said it’s not only a safe place, but creates a community of friendship too.
“There’s women and children here so and then there’s single women here like myself but the very much a family atmosphere,” Terrie McKnight said. “We have all been through the same thing so we all come from a base root of something that we can grab on too and bond.”
The nearly $530,000 renovation added 10 beds and increased security to the state run shelter.
