Shooting victim in Corbin has died

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to the Times-Tribune, the man shot on Thursday morning has died.

The paper says 37-year-old Stephen Pataki died on Saturday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

The Times Tribune says police believe Pataki’s wife shot him after a fight. Prosecutors expect to file charges soon based on the results of the autopsy, according to the paper.

A shooting six houses away from Corbin Middle School led to a temporary lockdown at Corbin Independent Schools Thursday morning.

Corbin Police say it began when they received a call about gunfire on West 7th Street, with two people involved.

The Times-Tribune reports that the two involved were married couple Steve and Iulia Pataki.

When they arrived, officers say Steve Pataki had been shot.  He was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  His condition was not released.

Police say Iulia Pataki was also injured.  Officers declined to give additional information onto the type of injury she received or her condition.  She was taken to Baptist Health Corbin.

The lockdown at the school was lifted at 11:00 a.m.
