Dog found tied to stop sign in Lexington now safe at Animal Care & Control

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A dog found tied to a stop sign in Lexington is now safe after a good Samaritan stepped in to help.

According to Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control, the dog was discovered early Wednesday morning on Atoma Drive. Officials say someone had tied the animal to a stop sign before the passerby untied him and brought him to the shelter.

Animal Care & Control shared the update on social media, saying the dog is now being cared for while staff try to locate the owner.

Several people commented on Animal Care & Control’s Facebook post that they likely know the owner of the dog.

Officials are asking anyone who believes the dog may belong to them to contact the shelter directly at 859-255-9033, ext. 233, or stop by in person.
