Winchester man charged in deadly dog attack
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Winchester man is under arrest for a dog attack that killed his wife.
Court documents say 41-year-old Christopher Collins came home from work and found his wife unresponsive and suffering from multiple dog bites. She died the next day from her injuries.
According to court documents, this wasn’t the only time April Collins was was attacked by the dog. Documents say she was taken to the hospital in September of last year after an attack.
Documents also say Christopher Collins told police about another dog bite in October, but he didn’t report the attack because his wife didn’t want to lose the dog.
The documents say Collins texted his son after the attack saying “I’m not going to the hospital cuz I’m not loosing my dog.”
Another text conversation cited in the documents shows Collins tell his wife he’s worried about her being home with the dog.
Documents say Collins told police the dog only attacked April when she was drinking alcohol.
Another text from Collins to his wife said “why you have an attitude and I dare you to b drink when I get home.”
Collins is charged with wanton endangerment. Police say that’s because he left his wife in a potentially harmful situation. He’s also charged for not reporting the first time his wife was bitten.
