Doctor pleads not guilty in prescription case
A Louisville and southern Indiana doctor has pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he prescribed medications that caused the deaths of five patients.
The Courier-Journal reported that 47-year-old Jaime Guerrero pleaded not guilty Friday in Louisville. U.S. Magistrate Judge Colin Lindsay released him on $50,000 unsecured bond after Guerrero promised to surrender his passport and his DEA license to prescribe controlled drugs.
The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure and the Indiana Medical Licensing Board suspended Guerrero after his indictment. He is also charged with health care fraud.
Guerrero has offices in Louisville and Jeffersonville, Indiana.
