DLP, DLMD seek public input for three year downtown strategic plan
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Downtown Lexington Partnership (DLP) and the Downtown Lexington Management District (DLMD) will host a public open house at the Hilton Lexington/Downtown on March 21st from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bluegrass Ballroom.
“We are excited to bring the boards of these two organizations together to begin planning for downtown’s future success,” said Terry Sweeney, DLP President & CEO.
The open house is an opportunity for downtown stakeholders, property owners, business operators, residents and customers to give input as DLP and DLMD create a three year strategic plan for Downtown Lexington.
“For Downtown to be successful, we need our two organizations working together. It’s equally important to build a strong foundation of buy-in across the community through engagement. The open house will be an exciting environment to build that buy-in and consensus and we expect 200-300 people to attend and provide input,” added DLP Board Chair, Steve Grossman.
The public open house is scheduled immediately following work sessions for both DLP and DLMD board of directors.
“We are all very excited about the course that will be charted from this process. Working together, DLP and DLMD are positioned to do great things for Downtown. Obtaining community input and support will only make what we intend to do that much better,” said DLMD Chair, James Frazier.
Data from the board work sessions will be displayed on the walls of the Bluegrass Ballroom, and guests at the open house will have the opportunity to participate in a data walk to examine and critique the ground work for the strategic plan.
In January 2017, the DLMD authorized DLP to implement programs and services contained in the 2018 DLMD Economic Improvement Plan. The three year strategic plan will launch in July 2018.
