Disaster recovery centers open for flood victims
PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As cleanup and rebuilding efforts continue following last week’s deadly flooding, FEMA officials and Kentucky Emergency Management are opening disaster recovery centers in Pike County to assist those affected.
According to officials, the centers will be located at the Pike Public Library and the Belfry Public Library. They will be open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to provide resources and support to flood victims.
State emergency management officials say additional disaster recovery centers will be opening soon in other areas impacted by the flooding. Residents in need of assistance can also apply online, by phone at 1-800-621-3362, or through the FEMA mobile app.
The deadline to apply for federal aid is April 25. Meanwhile, Governor Andy Beshear has confirmed that the death toll from the historic flooding now stands at 23.
