Dewitt man charged with murder in Knox Co. stabbing

DEWITT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police say a man has been charged with murder after a stabbing at a home on Moores Creek Road in Knox County.

Troopers say they received a call about the stabbing just before 11:00 p.m. Monday evening.

When they arrived, investigators say they found a man dead in the living room.

Officers later identified the victim, 33-year-old Gary Hobbs, and say he was stabbed twice in the chest by 27-year-old Brandon Burnett.  Troopers say Burnett admitted to stabbing Hobbs when Hobbs attempted to leave the home.  Furthermore, officers say Burnett admitted to taking different drugs, including flaka, during the evening.

Hobbs was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knox County Coroner.

Burnett was taken to the Knox County Detention Center.
