New details released in deadly officer-involved shooting
KNOTT CO., Ky. (WTVQ) – New details have been released an officer-involved shooting last Wednesday.
According to Kentucky State Police, one man died as a result of that shooting.
KSP says a trooper, now identified as Leo Slone, and a Knott County Sheriff’s Deputy, now identified as Robbie Slone went to a home on Hemp Patch Road Wednesday evening to arrest a man with active warrants out against him.
While they were there, KSP says they heard noise coming from a nearby trailer.
They say they found Christopher Jacobs, 28, of Pippa Passes, under the trailer. According to KSP, Jacobs refused to come out from under the trailer, then ran to a car, refusing to come out once again.
Officers say they tasered Jacobs, before he put the car in gear, dragging the deputy and hitting the police cruiser.
According to KSP, Jacobs then put the car in reverse, attempting to hit the trooper.
That’s when the trooper shot Jacobs, according to KSP.
The Knott County Coroner confirmed Jacobs died on scene. The coroner says Jacob’s body was taken to Frankfort Thursday for an autopsy.
