Free heart health screenings, CPR training offered during American Heart Month event in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — February is American Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular disease — one of the leading causes of death in Kentucky and across the country, according to health experts.

To help promote heart health in the community, Baptist Health Lexington in Hamburg is hosting a free heart-healthy community event Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Organizers say the event will include free heart screenings and hands-only CPR training designed to help people recognize warning signs and respond quickly during emergencies.

A cardiologist is also scheduled to speak at noon, focusing on the importance of heart health, prevention strategies, and how CPR can help save lives.

Health officials say events like this aim to encourage residents to learn their heart health numbers and take proactive steps toward preventing cardiovascular disease.
